Here is a Clear Step-by-Step Overview of the Patient Journey
We will collect initial intake forms including insurance documentation to confirm eligibility for Oral Appliance Therapy. If a sleep study is not available, we guide the patient through the process to obtain one.
A comprehensive oral examination including TMD and airway is performed. If a patient is a candidate, digital impressions are taken for a custom-fitted mandibular advancement device (MAD).
The MAD appliance is delivered and titrated (adjusted) to maximize both therapeutic efficacy and comfort. We use both objective and subjective metrics to track improvements in sleep quality, daytime symptoms, and TMJ stability. Once maximum results are obtained, a final efficacy sleep study is completed by a board certified sleep physician
We ensure that all treatment steps, from diagnosis, monitoring, and final efficacy test are communicated transparently with you, the referring doctor. We prioritize seamless collaboration to deliver the best results for your patients.
Patients will be monitored every 6-12 months with follow-up appointments which are essential for long-term success.
We make it easy to work with you and your team. We deliver top-quality Care
We adhere to the protocols established by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) and the Texas Medical Board to ensure all treatments for sleep apnea are safe, evidence-based, and effective.

We provide transparent information about insurance coverage and payment options, helping patients move forward with confidence. We accept all major insurance plans, including Medicare, Tricare, and VA. We offer affordable cash options for patients without insurance coverage.
We use precision-engineered ProSomnus devices, customized for each patient, and backed by manufacturer warranties for long-term reliability, comfort and predictable results.
During the initial phase of treatment, we use both objective and subjective metrics to track and maximise improvements in sleep quality, daytime symptoms, and TMJ stability.
Once final efficacy is obtained, patients will be monitored every 6-12 months with follow-up appointments which are essential for long-term success.
We educate our patients regarding diagnosis and all available treatment options, empowering them to make informed decisions.
Our personal support and regular follow-ups encourage long-term compliance to treatment.
We review advantages and disadvantages of all the treatment options. If oral appliance therapy is not the right solution, we communicate this openly to ensure each patient receives the most appropriate care.

We provide timely, structured updates to referring physicians, designed to integrate seamlessly into their clinical workflow without adding administrative burden.
Sleep apnea is a widespread condition with serious health implications, affecting various medical specialties. Addressing obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is critical to improving patient outcomes and reducing the risk of complications that arise from untreated apnea. Key connections between sleep apnea and common medical specialties:
Heart Health & Stroke Risk
Untreated sleep apnea significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension, heart failure, and stroke. Studies show that 80% of patients with heart conditions suffer from undiagnosed sleep apnea, which further exacerbates their health issues.
& Metabolic Disorders
Sleep apnea is strongly linked to metabolic disorders such as insulin resistance, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. It disrupts the body’s circadian rhythm and hormonal balance, worsening these conditions and complicating their management.
Function & Sexual Health
Untreated sleep apnea often results in frequent urination at night (nocturia) and can impair kidney function. In men, OSA negatively impacts sexual health, leading to erectile dysfunction and low libido.
Airway Structure & Breathing
For ENT specialists, sleep apnea directly impacts airway health. OSA can lead to chronic nasal congestion, snoring, and daytime fatigue, all of which interfere with a patient’s quality of life and overall well-being.
Migraines & Stroke
Untreated sleep apnea is associated with cognitive decline, memory issues, and migraines, and increases the risk of stroke. Sleep disruptions can severely impact mental clarity and contribute to neurodegenerative diseases.
Slowdown & Energy Levels
Patients with sleep apnea often experience metabolic slowdown and low energy levels, making weight loss more difficult. This creates a vicious cycle, exacerbating obesity and worsening the effects of sleep apnea.
& Patient Outcomes
Primary care providers play a crucial role in the early detection of sleep apnea. Recognizing symptoms such as excessive daytime sleepiness, fatigue, and snoring allows for timely referrals and treatment, preventing more severe health issues later on.

Dr. Adela Cabrera
Dr. Adela Cabrera brings nearly 30 years of clinical experience in treating Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) and, most recently, Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) through customized oral appliance therapy. Following the 2017 American Dental Association guidelines on evaluating airway obstruction, she integrated sleep-disordered breathing into her treatment approach—bridging the gap between dental and sleep medicine.
She has advanced training from leading institutions such as the Pankey Institute, Spear Education, Seattle Study Club Symposiums, and the Misch Implant Institute, and is currently pursuing Diplomate status with the International Academy of Sleep.
Dr. Cabrera has held multiple leadership roles in the El Paso District Dental Society, including serving on the Peer Review Committee for seven years and as President. Her work is guided by clinical excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a deep respect for patient-centered care.
